Here's another post on my travel in L.A. or should I say food trip. hehe.
Actually I was lucky enough that Gizelle my older brother's friend invited us to have dinner outside since they haven't seen each other for a long time. We really don't know any good place that we want to eat at, so Gizelle and her boyfriend Ryan took us to The Cheesecake Factory, I can't remember the exact place though.
When we reach the place, I was at awe when I saw the place. The outside of the restaurant itself was amazing and looks quite expensive. Arriving we didn't expect to be waiting in line for a long time but there a lot of people who are in queue waiting to be called. The way they call their customers who are waiting in line is new to me, they provide a device to the customers something like a size of a mobile phone and when it's your turn to be called that device (sorry I don't have any picture of the device to better explain it) will light up, meaning that there is an available table already.
Here some pictures of the place outside. Sorry for the quality of the pictures.
Filipino food and restaurants are really making their way into the international market, just like one of the most famous food chains in the Philippines - Chowking. I was a bit happy seeing Chowking in L.A because it kinda make me feel proud of how Filipino's are succeeding abroad.
One thing that I noticed when visiting fast food chains they have different menu's per country.
Eating at Chowking somewhere in West Covina, I noticed that their menu is not like what they offer in the Philippines. There were no Lauriat meals, the noodles and other food choices.
For a change, I'll be posting an English version for my blog..
They say that when you visit L.A. (Los Angeles) California, there are 3 places that you must go to - that is Hollywood, Universal Studios and Disneyland. Too bad for me I wasn't able to visit Disneyland, but that's fine.
On my first few days in L.A. one thing that I noticed is that commuting is not the best option to travel in this city because bus stops are far apart and it takes time to wait for buses to come, not unless you live in downtown were most transportation is accessible like train stations. Still the best way to get around is to have your own car or rent a car to maximize your traveling time.
To get to downtown L.A Tita Nanette decided we park our car at Union Station and take a train going downtown to save time for looking parking spaces and save on parking fees which is much more expensive in that area.
Some facts: This station has been used several times for Hollywood movies like Pearl Harbor, The Way We Were, Blade Runner, Speed, Star Trek; First Contact, Silver Streak and The Italian Job. The old ticket windows stood in for Miami National Bank in the Leonardo DiCaprio - Tom Hanks caper Catch Me if You Can.
